If I am not doing well in
High School, can I come to CGTC and take core classes (English, Math, etc.) to make up for
missing High School Credits?
CGTC is not allowed to supplant or replace High School Courses that are offered. However, Dual Enrollment and Joint Enrollment serve as options to improve student's performance in High School and College.
I am a college-bound student.
How challenging are the classes?
Many students that Dual/Joint Enroll, go on to four year colleges and universities. Because CGTC has over 200 programs, there is a range of cognitive demands as well as acceptance criteria throughout programs.
Are the classes all hands-on?
While an advantage of Technical College is that it provides accelerated skill set training, book work is utilized in a majority of the classes.
If I took the SAT do I still
need to take the placement exam?
As valid placement exams, SAT and ACT scores can be evaluated to determine program eligibility. If those tests have not been taken, CGTC administers the Compass placement exam, which is an ACT product. The scores are evaluated to determine program eligibility.
Does Dual or Joint Enrollment
use my HOPE hours?
Dual Enrollment does NOT count towards used HOPE hours. Joint Enrollment does count towards used HOPE hours.
